High Definition Editing

In 2001, South Coast took a leap of faith and jumped into HD production and post-production. We were the first facility in the region to offer a complete High Definition solution, at a time when it was far from a sure thing. Since then, we've learned so much about how to get the most out of HD in our camerawork and lighting, and we've continually improved and streamlined the process with our two HD edit suites. Go full uncompressed in our DS Nitris HD - Avid's flagship editing and compositing workstation, or enjoy the traditional Avid-style interface with our Media Composer 5, which handles HD using Avid's DNxHD compression, and also supports the latest digital formats. Couple that technology with our state-of-the-art editors, Kevin and Marco, and you've got a combination that can't be beat. And by the way, we can still do standard definition projects when the occasional need arises.

Encoding and Authoring

Creating web enabled media happens all over the facility. Our hardware-based encoding workstation cranks out whatever media files are needed; from quicktime and windows media to MPEG files for spot delivery and Blu-Ray DVD. The workstation is also where we use Adobe Encore to author DVDs. Scattered between the edit suites and the graphics department are all the other tools we use for streaming web media; After Effects, Flash and Squeeze and much, much more.
